Hallam get back in business with fine win

Hallam showed the shock defeat against strugglers Selby Town in the last outing was just a blip as they produced a superb performance n a 3-1 win at Hemsworth MW.

The Countrymen took the through Aaron Moxam’s deflected hooked shot from Conor Sellars superbly weighted pass.

It was 2-0 when Danny Deakin’s found Moxam in the area for the striker to score with a clinical finish. Neil Towler with a glancing near post headers put Hemsworth back in contention five minutes before the break.

A flare-up in the 55th minute saw both sides reduced to ten-men with Hallam’s scorer Moxam being given his marching orders along with Hemsworth’s Phil Lindley following an altercation between the pair.

But seven minutes later Hallam grabbed a third when the impressive Deakin set-up Sellars to score from close range.

Maltby Main won the local derby beating Parkgate 3-1 to stretch their unbeaten run at Muglet Lane to 10 games.

Matt Plant headed the Miners in front two minutes before the break the others coming from former Parkgate players Brain Cusworth and Oliver Graham. The Steelmen pulled one back in stoppage time ironically through former Maltby player Lee Hill.

Ryan Damms gave Staveley a 12th minute lead from the penalty spot at home against championship chasing Bridlington Town but that was as good as it got as the visitors stormed back to win 5-1. The Miners however were far from happy over a challenge that left new signing Lee Antony requiring hospital treatment.

Goals from Lee Thompson and Lee Holmes saw Worksop Parramore make it six wins from the last seven with a 2-1 victory at Liversedge. And Retford United won 2-1 at home against Glasshoughton Welfare thanks to Graeme Severn and Reece Thompson.

Armthorpe Welfare drew 0-0 with strugglers Winterton Rangers where player/manager Leo Fortune-West hit the post.

Worsbrough Bridge came from behind to win 3-2 at Selby Town with goals from Liam McFadyen (pen), Chris White and Luke Fergione.

Lee Bennett’s second half strike proved enough as Division One leaders Athersley Recreation beat Knaresborough Town 1-0 at home, Niall Doyle scored a hat-trick added to a Dean Thornton effort as Rossington Main picked up their first win of 2013 bearing Grimsby Borough 4-3 away.
