Sam Eckardt scored a hat-trick as Hallam ended a run of 10 games without a win with an emphatic 5-0 win over fellow strugglers Appleby Frodingham at Sandygate.
Adam Askwith was also on target with a brace as the Countrymen pulled six points clear of the Division One trap door (see match of the day in Friday’s Grass Roots).
Parkgate made it back-to-back league victories for the first time this season with a 4-0 win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway. The Steelmen open up a nine-point gap over Lincoln in the Premier Division’s second relegation slot. George Morley fired Parkgate into a sixth minute lead and made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute. Reece Wesley added the third six minutes later with Tom Foltyn-Brown wrapping up the points a minute from time.
Armthorpe Welfare went down 3-1 at Basford United where former Sheffield United and Aston Villa player Lee Hendrie shone on his debut for the Nottinghamshire side. Hendrie gave Basford a 17th minute lead with a clever finish with Fabian Smith’s deflected shot doubling the lead. Stuart Preston curled in a beauty six minutes into the second half to give Welfare hope only for Jaime Walker to seal the points.
Athersley Recreation picked up their sixth away win in nine beating Glasshoughton Welfare 2-0 with goals in the last 10 minutes from Lee Bennett and Joe Thornton.
Worksop Parramore’s three-match winning run ended with a 4-3 home defeat against promotion chasing Retford United.
Luke Fletcher gave Parras the lead but Retford hit back to lead 4-1 through a Richard Medcalf hat-trick and Reece Thompson. A late Worksop rally saw Sam Smith and Lee Whittington reduced the arrears.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic were beaten for the first time in 10 away league games - 2-1 at Division One promotion rivals Pontefract Collieries. Chris White gave the Briggers the lead direct from a free-kick but they suffered a blow when Josh Wright was carried off with a suspect broken leg as Pontefract hit back to level just before the break before snatching the winner six minutes from time.
Dinnington Town were beaten 2-1 at Shirebrook Town with the winner coming five minutes from time after Martin Wades 62nd minute equaliser had looked like earning a point.
AFC Emley when down 3-1 at second in the table Cleethorpes Town despite taking 14th minute lead through Sam Jerome.
Shaw Lane Aquaforce remain top after coming from one down to win 3-1 at Hall Road Rangers with goals from Ashley Flynn and Danny Frost 2.
Rossington Main gained their first win under new manager Steve Brennan, beating Teversal 2-1 at home. Joe Hart gave the hosts a first minute lead with Nathan Fraser scoring what proved to be the winner on 20 minutes, just three minutes after the visitors had levelled things up.
