Former Blade gets the nod from Pearce

Have your say

Former Sheffield United full back Kyle Walker has been called into the England U21 squad against Azerbaijan and Israel.

Also on Stuart Pearce’s list is Man United pair Danny Welbeck and Phil Jones, casting doubt over their involvement in the senior side’s matches with Bulgaria and Wales. Welbeck had been tipped to keep his place in Fabio Capello’s party for the Euro Championship qualifiers.

Pearce’s 27-strong player group begin their campaign against Azerbaijan on Sept 1 at Watford.

They play Israel in a friendly at Barnsley four days later.
