THE weather hit the local non-league fixtures last night with three of the scheduled Sheffield Senior Cup ties postponed.
After the snow then rain it was fog that caused disruption this time around with Stocksbridge Park Steels trip to AFC Emley postponed along with Frickley Athletics’ home clash against Athersley Recreation and the all Baris NCEL tie between Rossington Main and Staveley MW at Oxford Street.
However, in the one tie that did go ahead saw Sheffield FC scrape through 3-1 on penalties after it finished 2-2 at a brave Worsbrough Bridge Athletic following extra-time.
Sheffield broke the deadlock on 21 minutes through Jack Muldoon but the joy was short lived as Worsbrough hit back three minutes later when a free-kick fell to Adam Broadbent.
Sheffield regained the lead at the start of the second period as Shaq McKenzie put Club 2-1 up. However in the final minute Broadbent pounced on a loose ball to tie the scores at 2-2 to send the tie into penalties.
Parkgate’s NCE League Cup tie at Armthorpe was postponed and is rescheduled for Tuesday, March 12. Dinnington Town’s tie at Nostell MW was abandoned after 29 minutes, while Hallam’s league game against Bottesford Town at Sandygate Road also fell victim to the fog.
