Three excellent wins, one draw and three defeats saw our Christmas programme open on a positive note - and with a bumper holiday programme to look forward too, including a top drawer derby, our fans should be full of festive cheer and in a buoyant mood.
In the Toolstation NCEL First Division Hallam set up their best performance of the season when they travelled to second placed Clipstone F.C. and won 2-1.
Steve Brammer hit his fourth goal in three matches from the penalty spot and, after Clipstone had equalised, Jake Wright hit the winner.
Three successive wins saw Hallam move out of the bottom three, and there is no doubt that manager Ryan Hindley is doing a great job.
On Saturday, fourth-placed Hemsworth Miners Welfare visit Sandygate.
Handsworth Parramore drew 2-2 with Shaw Lane Aqua Force last weekend, and should go one better and beat next to the bottom club Nostell Miners Welfare away on Saturday.
In the Evo-Stik Division One South, Stocksbridge Park Steels enjoyed a much-needed win on Saturday at Rainworth Miners Welfare last weekend as man of the match Lee Garside, below, hit both goals in their 2-1 win.
The result saw them make it four games without defeat and move into the safety of mid table after a very strong showing in which they deserved the three points on offer. I will be at the Coach and Horses ground, weather permitting, on Boxing Day to see their derby clash against Sheffield FC, whilst on New Years Day they are at the Look Local Stadium to entertain bottom club Brigg Town. So a Christmas cracker full of six points? Well, it is certainly a possibility.
Club, meanwhile, lost on penalties in the Senior Cup at Athersley Recreation on Wednesday, and then crashed to a 2-1 league defeat at Lincoln United on Saturday.
