Welfare v Campion.

Luke Williams netted on his return to Welfare but it wasn't enough to prevent a first reverse in four.

Without a string of players owing to injury or unavailability, manager Mike Carmody gave Darren Mansaram a first start of the season alongside Williams with Josh O’Neill and Ryan Poskitt also both coming back into the starting 11.

Welfare went close early on when Williams saw a shot from a tight angle pushed away at full stretch by goalkeeper Declan Lambton.

Welfare v Campion.

Campion took the lead on 26 minutes when Omar Habeeb scrambled the ball past Stevens-Neale from close range.

Mansaram nodded over from a corner just before the break as Welfare stepped up their efforts.

Five minutes into the second half Welfare had a let off when Hurles-brook picked out Ponter but his first time shot inside the box came back off the bar.

Welfare were awarded a penalty soon after when Graham Hall was adjudged to have brought down Mansaram in the box. Ryan Poskitt saw his spot-kick parried by Campion stopper Lambton but the ball came back to Poskitt who headed it into the path of Williams who tapped into an empty net.

With a draw looking on the cards, Campion grabbed a dramatic late winner when Hall made amends for conceding the earlier penalty by heading in a corner to break Welfare hearts.

Rossington Main bowed out of the FA Vase at the second Qualifying round stage after being beaten 4-2 at Rylands - despite the hosts being down to ten men.

Jordan Buckham and Josh Gelder notched for Main but it wasn’t enough to prevent a cup exit.

Maltby Main got their league season up and running with a convincing 3-0 over Silsden at Muglet Lane for their first league win of the season. Anthony Wilson, Robert Chipps and Aaron Moxam all notching.
