Millers boss looks ahead

MILLERS boss Mark Robins blasted his misfiring team after they slumped to a disappointing defeat away to the Bees at the Underhill Stadium.

But the former Manchester United man refused to dwell on his side's first away defeat of the season, one inflicted by second-half goals from Adam Birchall and Jason Puncheon, the latter who scored from the penalty spot.

Instead, Robins preferred to look ahead to tomorrow night's away League Two clash with Macclesfield Town, an opportunity in his eyes to bounce back from their first loss in three matches.

"We can't dwell on this defeat, we've got to put it down to experience and get on with the next match," said Robins.

"If we dwell on defeats too much it affects confidence, but we can't have another second-half performance like that.

"We will now look forward to the Macclesfield game and go looking to change our fortunes around.

"I've said it before, but we can't let this performance turn our season. We've got to make sure we turn our form around ... and quickly.

"I demand a performance every game and, second half, we just didn't get it. We need to turn that round."

Birchall gave the Bees a deserved 52nd-minute lead with a clinical finish, before substitute Liam King needlessly fouled the goalscorer, and his teammate, Puncheon, made no mistake with the spot-kick for his fourth league goal of the season.

"We just found it difficult, especially in the second half," added Robins. "The penalty was a disappointment, but that just covered over what we were trying to do. We were poor in the second half - and there's no getting away from that."

Robins took his opportunity to praise debutant defender Ryan Cresswell.

The youngster had a solid game at right-back, although he could have been sent off in the first half for elbowing Barnet midfielder Neal Bishop in a 50-50 aerial challenge.

"It was an encouraging debut from Ryan Cresswell. I thought he was unlucky to get booked early on and I thought he was doing a decent job in defence for us," Robins said.

"We lost Danny Harrison on Thursday with a tweaked keen ligament, which meant I had to re-jig things a little bit."
