Meadowhall League: Dronfield hit six, Wickersley Youth score 11 goals, Handsworth under-18s edged out

The under-18 cup competitions took centre stage on a weekend when a number of ties were given the go-ahead despite the cold snap.

The Crossley Decorators under-18 Knock Out Cup second round produced no real upsets.

Division Five leaders Newbold Community might have fancied their chances of a shock at Division Two side AFC Dronfield White but they were sent packing 6-0 – William Hunter and Elliott McKie both bagged braces in the romp.

In an all-Division Three clash, Swallownest White romped to a 9-1 win at Hallam Rangers.

Quinn Ahmed led the rout with a four-goal haul.

Redmires Rangers of Division Three had no trouble getting past their opponents from the division below hitting nine past Staveley MW Blue without reply – Oliver Mather, Sam Raynor-Freeman, Ned Shaw and George Richmond all finding the net twice.

Wickersley Youth, who are flying high in Division Three, were the day’s biggest scorers thrashing Swinton Spartans Athletic 11-1.

In-form Sheffield North End eased past struggling Bramley Sunnyside 8-2 to make it just one defeat in the last seven.

Jack Whyers led the way with a hat-trick, whilst Harry Ancil and Cameron Gates both bagged a brace with Elthan Henshaw also finding the net.

In an all-Division Five affair, Brinsworth Whitehill will be hoping the cup will kickstart their campaign after the hosts beat Greasborough Youth Orange 3-1 in what was their first win in nine.

Elsewhere, there were three ties in the Bud Evan U18 League Cup third round.

Division Three leaders Sheffield Utd Junior Blades took their undefeated run to 11 games after a 6-1 win against Dronfield Town of Division Four. Ty Brooks (2), Eddie Reed, Zak Bower along with efforts from substitutes Kai Cockayne and James Cox ensured a cup shock was never on the cards.

Division One Shaw Lane Aquaforce edged past Handsworth of Division One 2-1, while Killamarsh Dynamo saw off Dronfield Black 8-7 on penalties after a goalless affair.
