Chesterfield raced in to a two-goal advantage when Sylvan Ebanks-Blake broke the deadlock on seven minutes before strike partner Lee Novak doubled the Spireites’ lead on 12 minutes.
A spirited Crewe, who came back from two down last time out to draw at Rochdale, pulled a goal back through Zoumana Bakayogo, before Spireites wrapped the win up.
