Main man Roper steps up to plate

BRODSWORTH Main (103-7) beat Adwick-le-Street (100-8) by three wickets in a thrilling Furniture Factors Doncaster Junior Cricket League Under-13s Plate final, with Michael Roper hitting a four off the last ball.

Adwick started disastrously and stood at 10-6 at one stage due to the bowling of Curtis Free( 3-4) and John Church (3-18).

But they recovered to post a tough total due to the batting of Rodgers (27 retired) and Reece Mould (23no).

Brodsworth kept up with the run rate in reply with Free (18no), Callum Goodwin (18) and Liam Gilliland (18) all making significant contributions. Zac Needham (3-6) gave Adwick a chance until Roper produced his heroics.

Doncaster Town (106-5) completed an Under-15s double when defeating Warmsworth 95-1 by 11 runs in their Under-15's Cup final.

Town's total owed much to the batting of Lewis Brown (23), Luke Sykes (17) and Jimmy Deans (15no). Liam Marshall (2-8) was the pick of the Warmsworth bowlers.

Marshall (53) then set about trying to win the game for Warmsworth, but when he was out the Common Lane club's innings stallled though Grant Hill (23 not out) was still going strong at the close.

Doncaster Town 158-6 cruised to a comfortable 73 run victory over Goole Town (85) in their Under-17s Cup final.

Dominic McGough (84) and Rhys Mann (35) set up the target with a century opening stand. Goole hit back thanks to the bowling of O'Donnell (2-19) and West (2-32).

Goole's reply stuttered thanks to a couple of sloppy run outs and they never recovered against the tight bowling of Town's Mann (2-4), Dhuprad (2-6) and Luke Sykes (2-15). West (20) top-scored.
