Loan deal for Dyer

DONCASTER Rovers have loaned experienced striker Bruce Dyer to Rotherham United.

The 32-year-old returned from international duty this week and found himself heading for Millmoor to begin a loan spell, initially for a month.

"Rotherham had some injury problems and they have taken Bruce on an emergency loan," said Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll.

Dyer has not been in O'Driscoll's plans this season and Rotherham have moved to offer him the prospect of first-team football after they were left with a potential striker shortage due to injuries.

"We are grateful to Sean and Doncaster Rovers for being so helpful to us over this and I thank them for their assistance," said Millers manager Mark Robins.

"We have had some injury problems and I think this will operate as a two-way thing.

"It means we get an experienced striker whose know-how will help us while Bruce gets the opportunity to play some first team football and also put himself in the shop window, if you like.

"It is for a month initially and we'll monitor the situation and might look to extend it."

Dyer was training with Rotherham today after returning from international duty with Monserrat.

Robins will then decide if he is to go straight into the side to play at Wrexham tomorrow.

O'Driscoll is checking on the fitness of Mark McCammon and Martin Woods as he continues preparations for Sunday's home game with Crewe. Both have been under treatment for slight hamstring strains arising out of last Friday's game at Northampton.
