Lloyd Allinson enjoys dream Chesterfield debut

Lloyd Allinson couldn't have wished for a better home league debut, the 23-year-old making a match-winning save and keeping a clean sheet against Bolton.

Allinson came to the fore in the first half, saving from Zach Clough in a one-on-one battle that kept momentum in Chesterfield’s favour.

The 1-0 scoreline was testament to a committed performance from one to 11 for Town, who climbed out of the drop zone.

“Really pleased, it’s a massive win for us, takes us out of the bottom four,” said the stopper.

“I can only say how well the lads have defended as a team, unbelievable. We needed that win massively and the clean sheet just tops it off.”

The man released by Huddersfield in the summer was modest in his appraisal of his big moment, denying Clough who looked odds on to level.

Instead, he shared the praise with the rest of his team-mates for their dedicated showing when they didn’t have the ball.

“The one from Clough, one-on-one I’ve just got to make myself as big as possible and luckily it just hit me, I didn’t know much about it,” he said.

“Everyone deserved that clean sheet.

“The way Sam (Hird) controlled the game in front of that back four was unbelievable.

“It wasn’t just the back five, the whole team from Ched back. That’s what we’ve been missing slightly, so to have it today and get a win is unbelievable.”
