Liddle and Barker were team-mates at Hartlepool when they achieved promotion from League Two under current Spireites boss Danny Wilson.

Barker is expected to be in caretaker charge of the Dons despite speculation linking Steven Gerrard and Steve Cotterill with the vacant post.

He has been looking after first team affairs since Karl Robinson was dismissed at the end of October, drawing two of three league matches.

But Liddle expects Barker’s team to offer a very different kind of opposition than the style he was accustomed to from Barker the player.

Liddle said: “He was a rough and tumble type of striker. He was a powerhouse and MK Dons like to pass it around.

“He’ll have them playing, aggressive and wanting to win the game, which they haven’t done too much of this season but neither have we so it shall be a good game.”

The Spireites go into the game on the back of a miserable run of form in the league which sees them rock bottom ahead of the clash with fourth from bottom at Stadium MK.

Liddle added: “It’s a big game and one that we don’t want to lose because we don’t want daylight between us and them.”
