The striker, who scored 15 times last season on loan from Birmingham, has said on a number of occasions that he’s open to a permanent move to the Proact.

Novak, 27, was released by Birmingham at the end of the season and has spoken to Chesterfield boss Danny Wilson.

His agent has also had talks with the club’s CEO Chris Turner.

But Novak says he doesn’t know what’s happening with regards to any potential move, having had no discussions for over a fortnight.

“I’ve not heard anything from Chesterfield since the Player of the Year awards,” he said.

“So I’m unsure what is happening at the minute.”

Novak’s services will undoubtedly be in demand in League One, but his wage demands might fall outside of Wilson’s budget limitations.

Chesterfield have already signed a striker in the post-season period, adding Kristian Dennis from non-league to the ranks.
