League after fresh blood

THE Solly Sports Doncaster and District Cricket League are looking to boost their membership in 2008.

Once the biggest league in the area, it has been badly affected by works' teams folding and defections to the Yorkshire Council in recent years.

But, boosted by the biggest sponsorship deal in their history with Dewsbury-based Solly Sports, the league is both looking to attract both new and former teams.

Spokesman Ian Hobson said: "The long-term sponsorship deal we struck up with Solly Sports last winter has given the league financial stability and we are looking to try and attract newly-formed teams, who will be given as much help and guidance as we can offer, or teams who have left in the past and who may be disaffected in their current league.
