Knights chief threatens to wield the axe

DONCASTER Knights boss Lynn Howells has warned his team: "Turn it on today or face the axe."

Today's opponents, Pertemps Bees, are stranded at the bottom of National Division One and have never beaten Doncaster in the league.

Ahead of kick-off this afternoon at Castle Park, Howells stressed: "More than anything, we are looking for a big performance.

"Players who do not do it won't be playing next week."

He added: "It is important to get a result. We have not excelled at home in the two games we've played here and we owe our supporters a performance."

Howells is expecting no push over either despite Bees' played five, lost five league record.

"From what I've seen on DVD, they're stronger than their results suggest," he said

Second in the table Knights go into today's game unbeaten and next week they face Northampton Saints, the National League top dogs.

"I'm not even thinking about that now; we won't until this game is over," Howells added.
