The Spireites escaped the bottom four for the first time in more than three months on Saturday after beating Chorley.

But as the Blues prepare to face Dover Athletic this weekend Pemberton has been keen to make sure everyone is reminded of what has got them five wins from their last eight games.

“What I don’t want them to think is that the pressure is off,” he said.

“I have been on top of the players a little bit this week because I felt it was important just to firm down where we are and show the work we have been doing to get us out of there and the standards are definitely the same, they do not go. I won’t allow that to happen.

“Sometimes when you achieve what you set out to achieve it is a weight off your shoulders but I still want that weight to be there. One poor result and we are back in it but we are desperate for that not to happen.

“We want to carry on what we have been doing and it does not stop now just because we are sat outside the bottom four.”

He added: “They know what we will and won’t accept so they almost police that themselves. If I need to kick someone's back side they will get it kicked but I do not need to do that all of the time otherwise it just loses the impact.”

Goalkeeper Shwan Jalal and midfielder Regan Hutchinson are back in training but checks will have to be made on “one or two” players who are suffering with illness ahead of the game against 12th-placed Dover.

Pemberton said: “The games are now bigger for us because we do not want to go back into the bottom four.

“There is a possibility it could happen because realistically can we win every game from now until the end of the season? Probably very difficult.

“They (Dover) are a good side. I know they have lost their last two games but they are a big physical team.”
