John Pemberton believes Chesterfield's trio of loan players will not be offered new contracts by Notts County

Goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons, defender Matt Tootle and striker Nathan Tyson are all on loan from the Magpies.

The loan for Fitzsimons finishes at the end of April while Tyson and Tootle will be at the Proact until the end of May.

The National League season is currently suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus crisis. If the campaign does resume it could run well into the summer months which would mean clubs would have to make arrangements to extend deals for loan players and players whose contracts expire.

But if County choose not to offer Fitzsimons, Tootle and Tyson new contracts then Chesterfield could sign them on free transfers if they wish to do so rather than loaning them.

Tyson in particular has impressed but Fitzsimons’ first-team action has been limited to just 45 minutes and Tootle has not featured since December through injury.

The loan deal for Burnley full-back, Jordan Cropper, finishes at the end of April so Town will more than likely have to ask the Premier League club to keep him for longer if the season is not cancelled. He is contracted to the Clarets until 2021.

Pemberton said: “I have spoken to the lads on loan just to tell them the situation that we are in.

"With regards to Tootle, Tyson and Fitzsimons their contracts are up anyway with their club.

"I don't think they (Notts County) are going to renew them so they are going to end up free agents anyway so we are just monitoring that and seeing what that situation is.”

But caretaker Pemberton added that he is not in a position to offer any players deals for next season because of the uncertainty of his own future at the club.

“I can't make any decisions, which is what I have said to the players, until we find out what the situation is with the club with regards of the takeover and what is going to happen with regards of myself and my staff moving forward,” he said.
