Jagielka makes his comeback

EVERTON defender Phil Jagielka, the former Sheffield United star, and forward Victor Anichebe returned from injury in the reserve team’s goalless draw in the mini-Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Centre-back Jagielka made his first appearance since sustaining medial knee ligament damage in early January. Anichebe has been in and out of the side after recovering from a serious groin injury but has not featured for the first team since February 4.

Jack Rodwell also started his second successive reserve game, while fellow first-teamers Leon Osman and Seamus Coleman were also given run-outs.

Leeds have signed Bolton defender Paul Robinson on loan.

The 33-year-old left-back has agreed a short-term deal until April 9.

Manager Neil Warnock said: “I’ve been looking to see if I can get one or two leaders in.

“Paul is a player I’ve had my eye on since I came in but for whatever reason we just couldn’t quite get it over the line.

“Now we’ve been able to do that I’m delighted. This is a great club for him and it gives us a chance to have a look at him with a view to next season.”

Port Vale are set to go into administration for the second time in just over eight years.
