The Owls had been winning 2-1 going into stoppage time after goals from Morgan Fox and skipper Tom Lees helped to turn around a one-goal deficit at the interval.

But Garry Monk’s men were sunk by strikes from Tyrese Campbell and Sam Vokes at the death as Wednesday lost their first match since the 2-1 reverse at West Bromwich Albion on November 23.

@RocketOwl1986 Pathetic that from #swfc. Mainly the two strikers just like the last home game for large spells. Monk needed to change that after 30mins and get Hutchinson on to stop us getting bullied and get the absolute dross Jordan Rhodes off. Nuhui also dross but all we have in a 4–3-3.

@ConcedingYT It’s actually funny cause when it went to 2-2 I was still content with a draw after that awful first half. Only my club #SWFC

@OwlPaul Well #SWFC go down yet again with a sucker punch !!! You just can’t beat Boxing Day!!! One day we’ll have to learn a bit of ring-craft in the last round as we can’t stay the distance. We’ve been doing so well too, reyt disappointing end. Up and go again lads

@dcturner71 For the majority of that game #swfc were 2nd best. Having turned it round they should have had enough about them to see it out. Time and again they fail to do it. Overall Stoke deserved the win. Dawson MOM. Defenders let him down.

@Adi_Bailey Dunno what’s worse, the anti climax of the Gavin and Stacey Xmas Special or Wednesday throwing a 2-1 lead to bottom of the league stoke after the 93rd minute #swfc

@BigAl_simon Still top 6, but if we'd seen the game out a nice gap would have opened up. What Monk can do in the window is going to be key, hopefully he can pull off a few decent deals #swfc
