'It is with a heavy heart that I leave the club" - Chesterfield confirm departure of staff member

Club secretary, Nigel Smith, has left the Spireites to take up a similar role at Swindon Town.

Nigel joined the club in 2018 after leaving Derbyshire Football Association.

Club secretary, Ashley Carson, said: "We are really disappointed to be losing someone like Nigel. With his kind of expertise, he has been a great asset to the club and we send him our very best wishes and wish him every success in his new role."

While Nigel said: "It is with a heavy heart that I leave the club I have supported all my life. I have loved the time I have served my club and I am still a mad Spireite.

"With the club's continued uncertainty, I applied for the job with Swindon Town. I am delighted to be appointed and this is a great opportunity for me."
