The full-back was forced off on the half-hour mark with suspected concussion during the 1-0 win over Bristol City at Hillsborough on Sunday.

If it is confirmed Fox is concussed, he would miss the Boxing Day clash at Stoke City as well as next Sunday’s home game with Cardiff City and the New Year’s Day fixture with Hull City at Hillsborough.

Speaking to the media after Sunday’s game, Monk confirmed the 26-year-old had been withdrawn due to suspected concussion.

He said: “I haven’t checked on it yet but I believe it was (concussion).”

According to FA guidelines, any player with concussion must rest for 14 days unless they are in an ‘enhanced care setting’.

Fox joined the Owls in January 2017 from Charlton Athletic but his Hillsborough deal expires at the end of the season.
