Injury update: McGinn in full training, Donohue and Nolan close, Evans to start?

Chesterfield have welcomed Paul McGinn back to the training ground but will still exercise caution before throwing him into their relegation battle.

The right-back has missed the majority of the season with a hamstring injury that he aggravated in October by trying to come back before he was ready.

He has since suffered another setback, so boss Gary Caldwell’s delight at seeing his fellow Scot back on the training pitch is understandably tempered.

Ahead of tonight’s visit to Walsall, Caldwell said: “He trained fully (yesterday) with the squad, it’s great to have him back.

“We have to be cautious that he’s had two reoccurences of his hamstring, we have to make sure he’s right.

“Whilst the need is urgent, we need him for as many games as we can.

“It would be silly to play him for one and lose him for 11, we need him for the majority of these 12 games.”

Town will be hoping both Dion Donohue and Jon Nolan will be available for selection this evening, Caldwell confirming yesterday that the pair were ‘getting close’ to full fitness.

And striker Ched Evans, who made a return to action off the bench on Saturday, may also be in contention for a start.
