The Millers ran out 2-1 victors over Nottingham Forest on Saturday but were on the wrong side of the same scoreline against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Wales international Vaulks has urged his team-mates to emulate the performance from the weekend in their remaining five games as the fight for survival heats up.

Vaulks said: “There is no big picture, we have not set a target but the situation is what it is.

“I think we need to win at least a couple of games but we will be going out to pick up as many points as we can.”

Rotherham face tough trips to Swansea on Saturday and Swansea City on Good Friday.

They then take on Birmingham City at the New York Stadium on Easter Monday.

The Millers’ face West Brom at the Hawthorns on April 27 before hosting Middlesbrough on the final day and midfielder Vaulks said home form was the key to Paul Warne’s side maintaining their Championship statues.

He added: “We have got six games to go and we have to go into each of them with wanting to win and on the same basis as we did on Saturday.

“Our home games are crucial and away from home we’ll pick up what we can.”

Meanwhile, Vaulks referred to his Wales call up earlier this year as the ‘proudest moment of his career’.

The midfielder, who qualifies to play for Wales through his mother, was chosen by manager Ryan Giggs for games against Slovakia and Trinidad and Tobago in March.

He made his debut in the friendly against the Trinidadians at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham on March 20, playing the full match and assisting the only goal by Ben Woodburn in added time.

He said: “It all happened really quickly. It was something that I thought was gone. There was a sense that I would need to be playing in unbelievable form and it was really nice to get recognised in that way.

“It was the proudest moment of my career so far and now I have had that little test of it I want more.”

Vaulks, who signed for the Millers in July 2006, has notched six goals in all competitions so far this season.

He added: “It’s been a good year so far personally. I would like to have scored more goals to be honest but it’s been a good year so far.”
