Roy Hodgson will be back on the treadmill this coming week.
He will take in a couple of Premier League matches, pop to a European game, watch half a dozen more on video. He will do the same the week after and the week after that.
For the next four months, until his England side play Denmark in March in their last match before the provisional World Cup squad is announced, he will trawl far and wide desperate to find the spark which might ignite his England team.
But the lack of star quality in the current England side could not be more apparent, or more painful, if it sat up and punched him in the nose.
