Girls soccer sixes a winner

Handsworth staged their annual successful Soccer Sixes tournament at Davy’s Sports Club with many local teams plus several from much further afield competing at nine different age levels.

Proving that football fact can outdo football fiction open age winners Sheffield FC Ladies A team finished third in their group and would have exited but for the withdrawal of other teams. Sheffield then won a play-off to enter the knock-out stages and they went on to reach the final which they won on a penalty shoot out against Steel City Wanderers, whose disappointment was compounded because they did not concede a goal during any of the games.
