Speaking after tonight’s 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic, Allen said he would not be chasing the club’s decision makers for updates on the much talked about consortium said to be close to purchasing the club.

“I’ve concentrated 100 per cent on preparing our players, training them, looking after myself, my family of players,” he said.

“I’ve really been looking forward to this game, to see Paul Cook, Tommy Lee, my first game here.

“Anything else, other bits outside of my control I don’t get involved in.

“I don’t make calls to find out what’s happening, to my bosses.

“If they have something to tell me, they will.

“Right up until that point I’m 110 per cent focused on my squad, on my big family, to make sure we put good performances together and don’t get distracted by anything else outside of what I can do.”

Allen expressed sympathy for fans who have concerns over any potential sale by owner Dave Allen but insisted he’s content with his own work and how it’s going on the footballing side of the club.

“I’m sure it’s very difficult for our supporters, wondering what the hell is happening,” he said.

“I can assure you I’m not.

“I’m very happy with what I’m doing, with what we’re doing.

“I promised everyone we’ve got a good team and I’m telling you now, we have got a good team.”
