They blitzed bottom club Bolton Wanderers with four second-half goals to make it four victories in their last seven matches under manager Neil Redfearn.

In front of a sold-out crowd at AESSEAL New York Stadium, Grant Ward opened the floodgates from 20 yards after 56 minutes and Danny Ward fired in the second from a tight angle in the 74th minute.

Joe Newell made it four goals in his last seven matches with the third in the 80th minute and substitute Jonson Clarke-Harris wrapped up proceedings six minutes later.

The Millers had so many chances after the break that they could have doubled the final score which was their biggest victory since returning to the second tier in 2014.

The result was enough to lift them out of the bottom three.

The scintillating second-half show was in stark contrast to events before the break.

The first half was a poor, scrappy affair in a difficult wind, and each side wasted a golden chance to score.

Millers goalkeeper Lee Camp produced a superb save to deny Zach Clough as the little striker scampered clear in the 18th minute. 14 minutes later, Danny Ward should have put the home side ahead but shot too close to visiting keeper Ben Amos after being put through on goal by Tony Andreu.

With loan midfielder Luke Hyam being recalled by parent club Ipswich Town and right-backs Stephen Kelly and Lewis Buxton absent, Redfearn was forced into changes. He brought Frazer Richardson into defence and handed a rare start to attacking midfielder Andreu.

Striker Leon Best, suffering from a groin problem, again failed to make the squad and has yet to feature since his debut at Leeds United on November 21.

In that fabulous second period, Andreu justified his selection by having a hand in three goals as Redfearn's men sent the Millers fans home full of festive spirit.
