The 21-year-old has joined the Millers on a season-long loan from Premier League Leicester and will add firepower to Paul Warne's side.
It is a return to South Yorkshire for Hirst who left the club where his father is a legend in acrimonious circumstances in 2018.

Hide AdHirst, who joined Leicester from Belgian club OH Leuven, is looking to prove himself.
“The main thing I am going to be judged on is goals, as a striker that is what I pride myself on and just getting this team high up the table as possible,” he said. “That is the main aim, if I can help with that by scoring goals week in week out then that is brilliant.
“For me I have got to go and prove a point, there are a lot of people who think I can't do it. “Deep down for me it is about proving a point and helping Rotherham go as far as possible.”
Hirst, an England youth international who played in the Premier League for Leicester last season, has been on Warne's radar for a long time.

Hide AdHe originally tried to bring him to the AESSEAL New York Stadium in 2017 but was foiled.
Hirst is happy to come to a club where he is wanted.
“I think for me I spoke to the gaffer before it all got sorted and his desire and he expressed that he had been after me for a couple of windows and for me that was a big thing,” he said.
“It was important for me at this stage to go and get game time at a good level and to go to a club where you are wanted is a big thing.”
