Flood-hit club poised for £10,000 lift

DONCASTER Toll Bar Amateur Rugby League Club are hoping to raise a five-figure sum towards the cost of renovating their pitches, damaged by the devastating summer floods, as a result of tonight's fund-raising dinner at the Keepmoat Stadium.

More than 250 guests are expected at the function organised by local businessman Gary Warner.

Former Oldham, Wigan, Leeds and Great Britain prop and now Sky Sports pundit Barrie McDermott will be the guest speaker.

McDermott was one of the game’s legendary hardmen and he is not expected to pull any punches during a speech which promises to be one of the highlights of the evening.

Radio Leeds sports presenter John Boyd will take charge of a sporting auction.

A number of players, including Dons skipper Peter Green and Craig Lawton, who have gone on to the pro game after coming through the Toll Bar ranks, will all be seated on a “legends” table.
