The 29-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Pompey.

He made more than 250 appearances for the club, winning two League Two titles.

Barnsley-born Talbot thanked the Spireites fans after leaving the club and revealed he had no hard feelings after being released.

“I had a good rapport with the fans. I’d like to thank them for their support over the years and wish them all the best for the future,” he said.

“I think they recognised that I gave my all for the club when I was fit to play. Fingers crossed they can be as as successful as they were during my time there.

“All good things come to an end and I don’t hold anything against the club because it is just part and parcel of football,” he insisted.

Talbot initially joined the club on loan from Luton Town in January 2009 before signing permanently later in the year.
