England v Germany: Euro 2020 betting preview, odds and best bet
Here we go again! It’s England against Germany at Wembley on Tuesday (5pm) for a place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.
England made it through Group D without conceding but Germany had a more difficult time of it in Group F.
Joachim Low’s side needed a dramatic equalising goal against Hungary to confirm their places in the knockout stages.
England are slight favourites at 8/5 in the full time result market as they continue their home advantage by playing their fourth consecutive game in Wembley. Germany are 2/1 but have an excellent record at Wembley, unbeaten there since 1975.
England to qualify is 10/11 whether that’s through full time, extra time or penalties with Germany in 11/10 in the same category. England have dropped behind Italy in the outright odds market to win the competition but are still third favourites at 28/5. Germany are 13/2 to repeat their Euro 96 triumph of lifting the trophy.
Harry Kane is 2/1 to score anytime and finally bag his first goal of the tournament. Raheem Sterling is England’s only goalscorer thus far and is 14/5 to continue his superb form. Kai Havertz is 3/1 and scored twice in the group stages. Serge Gnabry is yet to find the net but is 13/5 over the 90 minutes.
Best bet: Much will be made of Gareth Southgate’s painful miss in the penalty shootout of England’s Euro 96 semi-final against Germany. His side could exorcise the demons from that night and are 10/1 to win via another shootout.
