The match will pit the likes of Jack Lester, Steve Ogrizovic and Dave Caldwell against TV stars, including Emmerdale’s Danny Miller, Mike Parr and singer Jake Quickenden.

Phil Walker, who played with Moss at Chesterfield, is organising the event, which will raise funds for Dementia UK and Once Upon a Smile.

Walker said: “We’ve sold about 1,000 tickets already and sold out a brunch with a visit from the legends.”

Moss suffers from a rare form of dementia but it is hoped he will feature in the game, which kicks off at the Proact at 3pm.

“When I say it’s for Ernie people say of course we’ll be there,” Walker added.

Tickets (£5 adults, £3 kids) are available on the day.
