WITH Premier Division pacesetters Retford United facing a huge test of their championship credentials at second-placed Tadcaster Albion, it could hand Parkgate and Staveley Miners Welfare an opportunity to narrow the gap on the leaders.

Parkgate are in superb form and should pick up all three points at home against Nostell Miners Welfare. Doug Shelley’s men have won five and drawn two of their last seven including a 1-1 draw at Retford. It leaves the Steelmen nine points behind the leaders with three games in hand. Nostell go into the game in the bottom half of the table and having lost four of the last five.

Staveley go to second bottom Maltby Main which looks a much tougher fixture than it did a month ago. The Muglet Lane outfit had not won in 20 league outings until last month but a change in fortunes over the past few weeks has seen Maltby win two and draw one of the last four, including an emphatic 4-1 home victory over Armthorpe Welfare while Staveley have lost four of the last five on the road.

After suffering at battering at neighbours Maltby, which brought a first defeat in four, Armthorpe will look to pick up the pieces at Barton Town Old Boys where Des Bennett’s side will aim to avenge a 2-1 defeat at Church Street earlier in the season. However, Barton are unbeaten in six at home.

After getting their Division One promotion push back on track with a 2-0 win at local rivals Hallam at the beginning of the week, Handsworth take on Yorkshire Amateur at Olivers Mount.

Hallam should bounce back to winning ways by completing a league double at bottom of the table Appleby Frodingham after going three games without a win. The Blues beat Appleby 3-0 at Sandygate Road earlier in the season.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic return to action after a three week break with a home clash against high-riding Glasshoughton Welfare.

Elsewhere, Dinnington Town take on leaders Pontefract Collieries boosted by a 1-0 win over promotion hopefuls Worksop Parramore, making it three matches without defeat.

AFC Emley will aim to extend their unbeaten run to three outings when they entertain out of form, Worksop Parramore who have lost the last three.
