Rovers 'on right lines'

DONCASTER Rovers eased the pressure on manager Sean O'Driscoll by beating Cheltenham 2-0 - their first win over the Robins.

"We could have made it a bit more comfortable for ourselves by scoring more goals but we are on the right lines." said O'Driscoll.

Rovers took the lead with a well-worked goal by in-form Lewis Guy, who is going to start attracting interest from bigger clubs if he can maintain his current form.

Said O'Driscoll: "James Hayter came off the line and he is an intellegent footballer and we are always on to them that when somebody receives the ball short that someone has got to make a run.

"Lewis is probably the best player we have when it comes to making runs off the ball and James found him and he finished in confident fashion.

"You can see in his play that he is confident. He is enjoying his football, which is good, and he is bright.

"It was nice that the supporters gave him a standing ovation when he came off because sometimes it has not been so pleasant.

"But he deserved it and he has to keep it going."

Hayter also caught the eye.

"James always gives you 100 per cent whether he plays good, bad or indifferent,"`said O'Driscoll.

"Sometimes when things aren't going his way you lose Paul Heffernan a little bit, but that doesn't happen with James.

"I thought they complemented each other very well and Paul again could have scored two or three goals."

Rovers came under pressure after the break before adding a second goal on 57 minutes.

Said O'Driscoll: "I think they upped the tempo. After what happened in the Southend game We were conscious of the fact that we had to match them."

Left-back Gareth Roberts looks to be doubtful for tomorrow's home game against Walsall. He has an upper thigh problem.
