DONCASTER Rovers finally completed the signing of former Senegalese skipper Lamine Diatta on a short term contract today.
The top defender went through a rigorous training session at Cantley Park this morning and has agreed to join the club until February.
Diatta, who was Senegal’s defensive kingpin when they reached the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup, went on to win two Premier League titles following a £3 million move to Lyon in France.
He also played for St Etienne and had a spell at Newcastle United three years ago.
Diatta gained 40 caps for Senegal and has joined the club initially for two months.
Rovers are now seeking international clearance for the 36-year-old six-footer but it may not come in time for Saturday’s tough visit to Birmingham City.
