Late goals from Theo Robinson and Curtis Main secured a somewhat laboured win for Rovers against ten man Rochdale.

Rovers had come from behind through Kyle Bennett after Matty Done had given Rochdale an early lead.

Done was then sent off ten minutes in to the second half, presenting Rovers with a glorious chance for a much-needed win. A hatful of chances were created and missed.

But just when it seemed like it was not to be their day, substitute Robinson nodded them in front four minutes from time before Main made sure of the win in the stroke of full time.

Rochdale started the game the sharper and opened the scoring on eight minutes.

Full back Rhys Bennett chipped a ball into the box with Done darting in untracked to produce a diving header past Sam Johnstone on eight minutes.

Rovers switched formations, from 4-4-2 to 4-1-3-2, after conceding and began to enjoy the better of the possession.

And they got their reward on 45 minutes. Starting with Richie Wellens, the ball past quickly through Reece Wabara, James Coppinger and Nathan Tyson before Bennett was sent scarpering into the area and he managed to squeeze his shot through a crowded box and into the bottom corner.

Former Barnsley midfielder Done - who had given Rochdale an early lead - was sent off after an off-the-ground tackle on James Coppinger on 54 minutes.

While Done did not go in studs-showing, the manner in which he leapt into the challenge drew no hesitence from referee Jeremy Simpson in showing the red.

Rovers dominated possession with the man advantage but composure was severely lacking in the final third as Main, Tyson, Harry Forrester and Bennett all missed glorious chance.

Both Bennett and Tyson struck the bar with efforts.

But when it looked like time was running out, Rovers struck.

Robinson rose unmarked six yards out to meet a Bennett corner and head Rovers in front.

And moments later, Main flicked a backheel past Conrad Logan after a low cross from Wabara.
