You could not have wished for a better couple of games over the past week.
We recorded our first back-to-back wins of the season, other results went our way and there is now daylight between us and the bottom three.
Huddersfield, who brought over 2,800 fans to the Keepmoat on Saturday, were never in the game in the opening 10 minutes.
We eventually got our noses in front when Gabriel Tamas put in a powerful downward header for the ‘fox in the box’ Billy Sharp to get the faintest of touches and poke home. In the second half, a brilliant move saw David Cotterill put the game beyond doubt.
Tuesday against Watford we had one of our lowest attendances with just over 6,500 - 400 away. Those who did not attend probably missed one of the best and most exciting games of the season so far.
Watford had Mathias Ranegie red carded for a kick out at James Husband and within minutes we were ahead after Chris Brown headed home a cross from our makeshift right-back James Coppinger.
We had our hearts were in our mouths when a short backpass led to Sam Johnstone tangling with Troy Deeney in the box. To everyone’s amazement, the ref waved play on.
Watford were riled and their 10-men put in a fantastic effort as Ikechi Anya levelled. But Rovers were relentless towards the end.
We had chances off the line, shots blocked and saved before Mark Duffy’s fierce shot was spilled into Sharp’s path who got the stoppage time winner. The roof came off following that goal - a strike worth it’s weight in gold for our Championship survival bid.
Onto Notts Forest this Saturday. It’s another hard game but the hosts are on a bad run at the moment. With Tamas out and Abdoulaye Meite’s hamstring concern, it might be back to the walls for us.
Remember you have until the end of March to get your season tickets. There are also spot prizes for fans who have renewed. Two fans have already won season tickets for the next five campaigns - Brett Mills and Ben Schofield - well done to you both.
Coaches this Saturday depart Retford at 11.30am, Harworth 11.35am, Bawtry/Rossington 11.45am, Hare and Tortoise/Sprotborough Ivanhoe 11.50am, Infirmary 12pm and Keepmoat Car Park 1 12.15pm.
