HERE we go for what could be a very important Championship game against Crystal Palace at the Keepmoat Stadium that will have fans gripping their seats...even if they are free.
I was climbing up a rather large hill in the Peak District, in training for the Inca Trek, when I got a text from chairman John Ryan saying that the board had decided to let the people of Doncaster come to the game for free,
So I realised that Monday was going to be a busy PR day as we knew what would happen with loads of people wanting tickets- they had in fact all gone by Wednesday morning.
This is great gesture by the board to make sure we have a full house shouting the lads on. We need every fan to make some noise this afternoon.
We are now in the critical run up to the end of the season so, as well as the Inca Trek, I now have the prospect of a end of season dog fight to stay up.
Many Rovers’ fans have never seen us in this situation as we have climbed up the table for years, but now is the time for the true fans to make their support count and make the Keepmoat rock!
When we played Preston I got all emotional when we scored. So what I will be like today, who knows? With a possible full house and loads of flags flying it is certainly going to be electric out there.
It’s also caught the media attention and every major media player will be there to report on what is a critical game for both sides.
One thing that always gets me at our games, is how late fans are getting in their seats before a game with many not even there when the teams come out.
Today we need everyone out there early making it a wall of noise when the teams come out into the gladitorial arena that is the Keepmoat.
With all the Bank Holidays coming up we have had to produce the match day programme earlier which has been a nightmare with four being put together in only 14 days.
At times I have lost track of the game I have been writing for. I actually had to produce the final game against Leicester before the Palace game with some copy being done straight after the game and on Saturday.
I will soon be meeting with the designer and I am going to completely rehash the design and content for next season.
I am looking for fans who would like to feature each match on a fans’ preview page. So if you want to appear let me know and also if you have photos taken around the world send them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Finally I would like to pay tribute to one of my team, Tony Bluff, who despite being over 70 still travels all over the country for the club writing the website reports as well as items for programme.
Tony is a fountain of all knowledge about Rovers and football in general. He is one of the unsung heroes.
Finally, hopefully I will see Steve Hossack at the game with his luminous purple jumper ready to torment Rovers No 2 Richard O’Kelly at the end of the game.
