Doncaster Rovers: Player ratings from win at Rochdale

It was a day when workrate and battle shone more than talent and skill as Doncaster Rovers beat Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena.

Here we rate in the individual performances from a superb win for Grant McCann's side.

Marko Marosi 7

Despite the Rochdale pressure he did not have a great deal of note to do but he produced two superb saves including the brilliant stop from Clough.

A superb performance both going forward and especially in defence. Worked his socks off and produced some vital blocks while also getting up the pitch well.

Joe Wright 8

A brilliant performance from the centre half who showed no hesitation after picking up an early booking. Made some superb tackles and put in vital blocks.

Andy Butler 7

A strong performance capped with a very well-taken goal from the stand-in skipper. Dealt with plenty of pressure with typical composure.

Danny Andrew 6

An okay afternoon but there were a couple of moments when he was caught in possession, particularly in the build-up to Henderson's horrendous miss.

Ali Crawford 7

Grabbed his first goal for the club with a stunning finish. Struggled to show his passing range due to a lack of space in midfield but performed well.

Ben Whiteman 6

Struggled to keep the Rochdale onslaught at bay in his shielding role and had little chance to break forward. A tough afternoon.

Matty Blair 8

His workrate was exceptional as he pressed hard in the middle of the park where Rovers often found themselves overran.

Alfie May 8

Justified his well-earned selection with tireless running to press Rochdale from the goalkeeper and into midfield. This was the perfect game for him to be involved in.

John Marquis 7

For a player who takes on his fair share of the donkey work, this was a day full of that for the hard-working striker and he clearly relished the challenge.

James Coppinger 8

Rovers score three, Coppinger provides the final ball for each of them. No need to say more but he was also key in maintaining possession to offer respite against Rochdale pressure.

Grabbed his first goal for the club after replacing Crawford and continued with the hard work in midfield, as typified with the run from deep to score.

Mallik Wilks 6

Looked determined to shine after coming off the bench and eased the pressure with some good runs with the ball.

Composure was needed in the late stages and Taylor showed there are few better at providing it
