Doncaster Rovers: No talk over Grant extension beyond January

Conor Grant insists there has yet to be any talk of extending his loan at Doncaster Rovers beyond January.

The Everton midfielder has impressed greatly since arriving at the Keepmoat in October and last week saw his loan deal extended until next month.

His two goal performance in last weekend’s 3-1 FA Cup win at Cambridge United only increased the clamour for the 20-year-old to be snapped up until the end of the season.

But the level-headed left footer says he is not looking beyond the next match.

“I’m just taking it game by game at the moment,” Grant said.

“There’s not been any talk about extending it.

“I’m just making sure I help the team to keep on improving.

“I’m sure when it comes to it, questions will get asked but for now I’m just concentrating on the next game.”

Grant’s goals last weekend – particularly his stunning second strike – will have no doubt alerted other clubs to his quality and Rovers could face competition if they want to retain his services.

The Merseyside-born midfielder has been pleased at his development during his time with Rovers and says continuing that remains his main focus.

He said: “I’m thriving on this opportunity.

“Last season I went to Scotland and spent some valuable time up there, and learned a lot.

“The next step this season was to hopefully come to England and show I can be a good player.

“Hopefully I’m doing that.

“Everton haven’t really spoken to me about the future.

“They want me to come out and play games and play well.

“So that is my focus at the minute.”
