Paul Dickov has dismissed speculation linking teenage hot shot Jack McKay with a possible move to the Premier League - and rewarded him with a two-year deal.

Everton and Crystal Palace were said to be considering stepping up their interest in the young striker, according to recent reports in the national media.

But Dickov this week rubbished those stories, telling local reporters “there’s been no interest in Jack at all”.

McKay and fellow youth team striker penned Liam Mandeville signed two-year contracts yesterday.

McKay - son of agent Willie - hopes to cap a memorable week by being named on the bench at Rochdale today.

Last season’s Academy Player of the Year made his senior debut for Doncaster as a late substitute against Sheffield United last weekend.

He then celebrated turning 18 on Wednesday by helping Rovers’ under-18s reach the third round of the FA Youth Cup, scoring in a 4-2 win at home to Peterborough United.

His twin brother Paul, a defender, signed professional terms with Rovers in August.

On Jack, Dickov said: “He’s a good kid.

“We named the subs last Saturday and he turned white for 20 minutes, and then he was fine!

“He’s a little bit raw at the minute but he’s a goalscorer.

“There’s him, Paul, Liam and two or three others that hopefully have a good future ahead of them.”
