Rovers’ pre-season preparations will climax against newly promoted Bradford City, the club has confirmed.

Paul Dickov’s men will travel to the Coral Windows Stadium on Saturday, July 27 - the final Saturday before the start of the new Championship season on August 3.

Bradford were promoted to League One after a convincing win over Northampton in the League Two play-off final at Wembley, the culmination of a sensational season which also saw the club reach the Capital One Cup final.

Dickov, meanwhile, revealed this week that the squad will be asked to return to pre-season training well before July 1, the date that players were originally told to report back under the previous management.

Rovers are thought to have been approached by a Premier League club to play a friendly at the Keepmoat, while they are firming up plans to play several other local sides.
