RICHARD Naylor has dismissed claims that Doncaster Rovers’ desire to capture high-profile signings will unsettle the squad and insists new recruits will be welcomed with open arms to the Keepmoat Stadium.

Pascal Chimbonda, Herita Ilunga and Chris Kirkland have all joined Dean Saunders’ revolution in recent weeks, having plied their trade in the top flight. Congo international Ilunga and Kirkland, capped once by England five years ago, both made their debuts in the 3-0 defeat to Leeds United last Friday while Chimbonda was an unused substitute.

Saunders is contemplating beefing up his midfield and has not ruled out bringing in Mahamadou Diarra as he seeks to add some steel to go with Rovers silky football, which they became famed for under Sean O’Driscoll.

Centre-half Naylor said: “We can’t worry about it (the speculation). We have games to prepare for. You hear stories about players coming in but we just have to put it to the back of our mind.”
