I’ve got to be honest, I thought that Doncaster dominated the game against Bristol City.
It was a big shame not to win it, especially given that the next round draw is such a fantastic one.
It’d be a big disappointment to miss out on the next round after playing so well on Saturday.
I was listening to the Bristol City manager talking after the game and he said they dominated in the second half. I completely disagree. Rovers were well on top for me.
And I think the team are looking excellent at the minute, we were very good at the weekend.
It’d be hard to point out anyone in the team who isn’t performing. We look like a completely different team.
I think Dean Furman, Richie Wellens and Paul Keegan have been very good in the middle, they’ve formed a good partnership. It’s such a shame we’ll be losing Furman as he’s been in excellent form recently.
What do you do about Furman’s absence? He’s going off to represent his country. It’s disappointing for us because you don’t want to change anything at the moment with how we’re playing.
I think what I’d do, is pull James Coppinger into the middle and get Kyle Bennett in the team further forward. Keegan can hold while Wellens and Copps are in the middle with two out wide.
That’s just what I’d do. I’m a big fan of Bennett, and I like to see him behind the striker. He was in a good run of form prior to his injury and it’d be unfair to drop Harry Forrester.
But you’ve also got Harry Middleton who came on at Peterborough and I’m led to believe he played very well.
Maybe Paul Dickov will give the lad a chance? Will he be brave enough? It’s a gamble. Either way, what he does have is options.
Andy Butler is a brilliant signing. He’s a brilliant lad who I know very well, and he’s a typical example of finding out what you’re good at, and doing it brilliantly.
Matt Smith is a beast of a player, and I think other than the one time they lost him, Butler and the rest of the defence handled him brilliantly.
What I like is that we are defending as an 11 rather than as a five. The whole team look more solid, even the substitutes whenever they come on, everyone is doing well.
Bristol City are top of the table but I don’t think they looked it from their performance at the Keepmoat, so credit to Paul Dickov.
