Coppinger scored one and set up the other for Rakish Bingham in Rovers’ 2-0 triumph, which booked a trip to Gillingham in the second round.

And the 38-year-old’s quality on the ball proved a major factor in Rovers turning the tables in a game where they had been second best in the opening period.

“Copps has been a wonderful servant to this club over the years,” boss Moore said.

“He's an instrumental part in terms of what we're trying to do here.

“He gets and understands what we’re doing and you’re seeing him play a different role to what he’s played in previous seasons.

“At the moment he's excelling with it which is great for us as a football club.

“He was instrumental in us getting the win.”

Moore praised Coppinger for the manner in which he took his goal and Bingham as he grabbed his first goal for the club.

“Copps should take the plaudits for a wonderful goal with calmness and composure,” he said.

“He’s someone who has been in that position so many times over the years and you would want it to fall to him. He's finished that just how James does.

“And for the second that he set up, Rakish has shown wonderful desire to get in ahead of his marker.

“I was really pleased for Rakish because we’ve had to work hard with him to get him up to speed.

“He's ready to step in and he had a good 30 minutes tonight so it's really good for him.

“It’s great to see him score and all strikers want to score so we’re pleased to see him get off the mark.”

Rovers will travel to Gillingham on Sunday, December 1 with a 2pm kick-off.
