Doncaster Rovers: More of the same as preparations head to Frickley Athletic

Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann is expecting more of the same when he takes his side to Frickley Athletic on Tuesday evening.

Rovers beat National League North side Alfreton Town 1-0 on Saturday in their opening pre-season friendly.

And they will look for more progress against Evo-Stik East Division outfit Frickley at Westfield Lane.

"I think it'll be the same sort of game, to the same sort of standard," McCann said.

"It gives us the chance to have a look at some of the boys to see if they can produce for us in League One this season.

"On Saturday's evidence there is a lot of encouraging signs but again, lots for us to work on."

McCann confirmed he intends to field two entirely different teams in each half, as he did at Alfreton on Saturday.

James Coppinger is highly likely to miss out again after rolling his ankle during the training camp in La Manga. Tommy Rowe and Will Longbottom remain long-term absentees.

Rovers will face a Leeds United side in a behind-closed-doors game this weekend, McCann has confirmed.

The Leeds side will mainly be made up by the U23 squad with some senior players included.

McCann said: "It'll be a 120 minute game on Saturday so that will give the players 60 minutes against a decent enough Leeds team with their 23s and a few first teamers."
