Doncaster Rovers Belles celebrate hat trick at FA Women’s Football Awards

Doncaster Rovers Belles topped off a memorable season by celebrating a hat trick at this year’s FA Women’s Football Awards.

Striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, who scored 25 goals to help Belles return to the top flight after two seasons away, collected two awards.

She was named FA WSL 2 Players’ Player of the Year and also picked up the FA WSL 2 Top Goalscorer award.

Promoted Belles also won the FA WSL 2 Club of the Year prize despite being pipped to the second tier title by Reading.

FA director Kelly Simmons, said: “2015 has been a landmark year for women’s football with huge progress being made at international and domestic level.

“From the Lionesses’ outstanding World Cup campaign and bringing the SSE Women’s FA Cup Final to Wembley, to huge increases in attendances in the FA WSL and coverage of the women’s game, we have made huge strides and it gives us a great platform for more in 2016.”

Sophie Barker and Ashleigh Mills have signed new contracts with Belles for 2016.
