SHEFFIELD Wednesday scored a last gasp equaliser through Reda Johnson to secure a deserved draw at Derby County.

Wednesday would be encouraged by the way they have fought back in the second half after trailing 2-0 early in the match and would think they were worth at least a point.

In the 90th minute the Owls grabbed their equaliser. Buxton crossed to the far post, Madine headed back across goal and Reda Johnson nodded home from close range. Fielding then made a great save from O’Grady as the Owls nearly snatched a winner.

Nathan Tyson, a Wednesday target during Paul Sturrock’s reign, dealt the Owls an early blow by scoring against them in the 11th minute of the new season.

Former Sheffield United striker flicked on a left wing cross at the near post to find Tyson who was unmarked in front of goal and planted home a close range chance.

It did nothing to subdue an electric atmosphere among home fans and a 6,000 following from Sheffield who gave their team noisy backing.

A corner lead to the second goal in the 26th minute. Centre half Jake Buxton had gone up for the set piece and stayed in the box for when the ball was put back in by Coutts from the right, the defender diving forward to head low into the nets and once again there was no challenge from the Owls.

Suddenly the Owls were back in it with a goal out of blue in the 38th minute.

Semedo played a short ball forward to the feet of Chris O’Grady who swivelled and from around 22 yards struck a brilliant left foot shot into the keeper’s top right hand corner for possibly his best goal for the club.
