Danny Wilson: '˜Chesterfield players fully up to date with club finances'

Spireites boss Danny Wilson says he has kept his players fully informed on the latest financial situation.

Chesterfield must find £500,000 to meet expenses up until Christmas following the resignation of Dave Allen as chairman and a number of other board members.

But Wilson says the Spireites’ battle to secure League One safety is the players main focus.

“We are being told just to stay calm and concentrate on the football which we always do anyway.

“I am sure the people at the top of the club will do their level best to get something sorted as soon as they can.

“We have had nothing that is matter of fact other than just a few conversations about keeping going.

“We have to make sure results go well, hopefully that was the start of that at MK Dons, and with a bit of luck on Saturday we’ll have a good crowd again and very positive attitude and we can get some points on the board again.

“That will make everybody feel better and maybe decisions will be a bit easier after that.

“You have to keep the players abreast of things.

“That’s what we are. We are quite transparent, I certainly am, and if I feel the players need to know certain things they will be told.

“Whether it’s good, bad or indifferent they have to understand the truth and not listen to rumour.

“Rumours will be a problem, there are all sorts of things flying round that no one knows if they are true or made up.

“They need to know facts and I will give them hard facts.

“The club will give me hard facts and if I think it needs transferring on to the players they will get it.”
